More power to empower.
The Multi-Engine Training Endorsement (META) is a popular pathway for Flight Instructors looking to gain more multi-engine experience. It allows them to expand on their own multi-engine knowledge, and build valuable flight hours whilst teaching the next generation of pilots. The training follows the CASA syllabus. It covers theory, flight training and competency in delivering Multi-Engine Class Rating flight briefings and reviews.
LTF offers the Multi-Engine Training Endorsement in both the modern Diamond DA42 aircraft with a G1000 glass cockpit or the Piper PA44 Seminole. To be able to commence this course, you must first, be at least a Grade 2 Flight Instructor, hold a Multi-Engine Class Rating, and have at least 50 hours’ flight time in a multi-engine aircraft. For pilots that don’t yet have their Flight Instructor Rating (FIR), Learn To Fly can offer this course in a combined FIR package.
To be able to commence this course, you must first, be at least a Grade 2 Flight Instructor, hold a Multi-Engine Class Rating, and have at least 50 hours’ flight time in a multi-engine aircraft when you are having the flight test. If you haven’t yet completed a Flight Instructor Rating (FIR), you will need to choose the Basic FIR course package. Your orientation will include an introduction to the airport, airspace, aircraft fleet, LTF processes and policies, and our facilities.
The ground school component replicates the Multi-Engine Class Rating syllabus, with additional competencies to include pre-flight briefing demonstration and read back as well as a long brief demonstration and read back.
Practical flight training includes 7 hours of dual instruction covering all aspects of flying a twin including recognition, control and performance, asymmetric handling, and engine failure decision making, with the addition of in-flight demonstration and read back.
The Multi-Engine Training Endorsement flight test is a 1.5-hour solo flight demonstrating all aspects of the course training syllabus.

Nicholas Harris“A Multi-Engine Training Endorsement allows Flight Instructors to teach students sequences for the Multi-Engine Class Rating course. It’s a great way to build knowledge and increase your flying hours in a twin-engine aircraft. At LTF you can fly a modern aircraft like the Diamond DA42 or the more traditional Piper Seminole, as well as the AL42 simulator.”
Our training program will support your learning and develop your flying skills in and out of the classroom. For detailed information on the course, including program introduction, prerequisites, training syllabus, fees and more, please download our FREE Course Guide.
