Put a new spin on your flight training
Performing aerobatics and spinning manoeuvres in an aircraft is a thrilling experience, but also provides very valuable skill additions for any pilot. The syllabus will see you learn and perform a range of aerobatic and spinning manoeuvres in our Super Decathlon aircraft, dramatically improving your stick and rudder skillset along with your confidence. Spin training especially is required for many commercial pilot career paths.
You never know when you might encounter conditions that unexpectedly place your aircraft in an unusual attitude, and all pilots should be competent in recovery from unusual attitudes and spins. In this course you’ll learn about what happens to both you physically and to your aircraft during aerobatic and spinning manoeuvres. Being able to handle these situations is a huge advantage to you as a pilot.
To complete the Aerobatics & Spinning Endorsement course, you must hold a valid RPL, PPL or CPL. Your orientation will include an introduction to the airport, airspace, aircraft fleet, LTF processes and policies, and our facilities.
Your ground-based theory component includes detailed briefings on flight dynamics, spin theory, airframes and aircraft tolerances, regulations, and a range of human factors including physiological considerations during aerobatic and spin manoeuvres.
Aerobatic lessons include performing Loop, Barrel Roll, Aileron Roll, Stall Turn (Hammerhead), and Immelmann manoeuvres. Spin training includes spin behaviour, and successful recovery techniques from fully developed spins. You will also learn how to detect and recover from unusual attitudes created by aerobatic and spin manoeuvres.
During the assessment flight, you will demonstrate your performance of all manoeuvres learnt and trained during ground theory and practical flight training.
