Design Feature Endorsements allow you to expand your capacity to fly aircraft with different special features. A Design Feature Training Endorsement allows you to conduct flight training for any Design Feature Endorsements that you hold. The training follows the CASA syllabus. It includes both ground theory and practical flight training to expand your teaching abilities and skillset.
Be Able To Teach Design Features
Our Diamond DA40 aircraft have Manual Pitch Propeller Control (MPPC), making this a very popular and handy Design Feature to both hold and be able to teach. Other popular Design Features include Tail Wheel and Retractable Undercarriage. For pilots who have the relevant Design Feature Endorsements, but don’t yet have their Flight Instructor Rating (FIR), we offer a combined Basic Flight Instructor Rating (FIR) package. 1. Prerequisite & Orientation
To complete this course you will need to hold a current PPL or CPL. If you haven’t yet completed a Flight Instructor Rating (FIR), you will need to choose the Basic FIR course package. Your orientation will include an introduction to the airport, airspace, aircraft fleet, LTF processes and policies, and our facilities.

2. Ground Theory
The ground school component replicates the relevant Design Feature Endorsement syllabus, with additional competencies to include pre-flight briefing demonstration and read back as well as long brief demonstration and read back.

3. Flight Training
Practical flight training includes 3 hours of dual instruction in an aircraft, covering the concepts learnt during the ground theory and simulator training course components.

4. Flight Test
The Design Feature Training Endorsement flight test is a 1.0 - 1.5 hour solo flight demonstrating all aspects of the course training syllabus.
