Take Instructing to New Heights.
As you progress as a Flight Instructor and your experience grow, so too should your knowledge and your ability to teach. It’s also important for you to take on additional responsibilities, and be able to endorse and approve critical student pilot training steps. Completing Grade 1 and 2 Training Endorsements will take your Flight Instructor abilities to the next level.
You can approve first solo flights and conduct flight reviews for ratings when you become a Grade 2 Flight Instructor. In addition, you can also assess Knowledge Deficiency Reports for licence and rating grants, and grant endorsements on RPLs. A Grade 1 Training Endorsement expands on that even further, allowing you to supervise Grade 2 and Grade 3 instructors when they conduct flight training. Schedule a meeting with one of our aviation career specialists to discuss whether this is the right course for you.
To commence a Grade 2 Training Endorsement you must hold a Grade 3 Training Endorsement plus at least 200 flight hours conducting initial flight training in an aircraft of the specified category. For a Grade 1 Training Endorsement you must hold a Grade 2 Training Endorsement plus at least 500 flight hours conducting initial flight training in an aircraft of the specified category.
Your orientation will include an introduction to the airport, airspace, aircraft fleet, LTF processes and policies, and our facilities.
The ground theory includes aeronautical knowledge review, pre-flight briefing demonstrations and reads back, and delivery of selected long briefs from RPL, PPL and CPL syllabus. Grade 2 theory includes how to approve the first solo, assess KDRs, conduct flight reviews, and grant endorsements. Grade 1 theory adds detailed flight training supervision plans.
The dual flight training component introduces advanced problem-solving skills in the assessment and analysis of student training deficiencies. You will focus on accuracy for complex manoeuvres and sequences, and the in-flight application of all theory concepts.
During the 1.5-hour flight test, you will demonstrate all concepts learned during the ground theory and practical flight training syllabus.

Our Graduate
Clement Suen“The Grade 2 Training Endorsements cover advanced Flight Instructor concepts and responsibilities like sending a student solo for the first time. Grade 1 and 2 instructors are expected to explain concepts more clearly and in greater depth. The LTF courses are interactive, with experienced instructors providing support and valuable feedback to help me improve my briefing skills, which then helps my teaching.”
