LEARN TO FLY SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND

Over the past 15 years, Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon have invested in and increased the size of the Hong Kong pilot community by hiring more local cadet pilots through their Cadet Pilot Programs. Now, we try to help more people from Hong Kong get through the Cadet Pilot interview process to become airline pilots by offering a Learn to Fly Scholarship.

LEARN TO FLY SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW

Successful applicants will receive scholarship funding which will assist in paying for the “Future Cadet Pilot Program (FCPP) – Standard” course, which must be completed within a set timeframe. The scholarship is valued at approx. AUD$6,998 and includes:

  • 10 hours of flying
  • 3 hours of VR 360 simulation flight training
  • Cadet Pilot Interview Workshop
  • Airline Interview Coaching Session
  • Flight Radio Operator Licence (FROL) Theory & Exam
  • Pre-Solo Air Legislation Theory & Exam
  • BAK Theory & Exam
  • ICAO English Online Activities and Test
  • All textbooks and notes necessary

REQUIREMENTS

Previous flying experience is not required to apply for the Learn to Fly Scholarship, but there are a few mandatory conditions that applicants must meet:

  • Requirements for HK Students:
  • Passion for flying and desire to pursue an aviation career
  • Aged 18 – 32 years old
  • Hong Kong citizens or citizens with permanent residency in Hong Kong
  • Secondary school education with good passes in mathematics and science, or a university degree (science subject preferred)
  • Good command of the English language
  • Ability to complete program within 6 months

SELECTION PROCESS

There are 2 intakes for the Learn to Fly Scholarship each year and the application dates will be announced on the Learn to Fly Facebook Page in FEB and AUG 2018. After applications have been received, you can expect:

  • Study notes to be released to shortlisted candidates via email
  • Short test of study notes and panel interview to be undertaken to assess suitability
  • Finalists to be notified via email
  • Awardees to be publicly announced on our website and Facebook Page
  • Awardees to start their training with us
